Shubhra Das Alam’s practice exemplifies an innate sense of power that comes along with a continued process of investigation and application. Graduated from the College of Fine Art, New Delhi, and received the master’s degree from Lalit Kala Sansthan, Agra, Shubra’s narrative portrayals are seamless dialogues that map, according to her, an “invisible passage of time”, “spiritual connection” and “ the message of love”.
Practising painting as well as sculpture, as well as experimenting with new media, Shubhra’s figuration indulges in various poses of the routine line and usual encounters. The diverse series of paintings is inspired by the positive nuances and continuity as the fundamental context. There is a fleeting aura of untouched release as a source of energy while endeavouring to enhance the technicalities of formal attributes. Epitomising the creation of life, vitality and nurture, Shubra’s artistic oeuvre is an ode to an ever-changing aspect of sustenance, powered by an introspective strategy and a universal method of image-making.
